Is Albuquerque water hard?
Much of the Albuquerque metro has hard to very hard water, and levels vary by neighborhood and water source. Private wells in the valley and East Mountains can be even harder. Our free water test tells you exactly where your home stands.
How does a water softener work?
Softeners use resin beads to swap hardness minerals (calcium and magnesium) for sodium or potassium through ion exchange. The system periodically regenerates itself with a salt brine and flushes the minerals away.
Will soft water make my water taste salty?
No. The amount of sodium added is small and generally not noticeable. For drinking water, our reverse osmosis system removes most of it anyway. Potassium chloride can also be used instead of salt.
How often do I add salt?
Most households add a bag or two per month, depending on hardness and water use. Our metered valves only regenerate when needed to keep salt use low.
Is a softener allowed in my area?
We'll let you know about any local rules for your address and make sure your install is code-compliant, including proper drain connections.
Filtration & drinking water
What's the difference between a softener and a filter?
A softener removes hardness minerals that cause scale. A carbon filter removes chlorine, chloramine, tastes and odors. Our Soft + Filtered Home system does both in one tank.
Do I need reverse osmosis if I have a softener?
A softener protects your plumbing and makes water feel better, but it isn't designed to purify drinking water. RO at the kitchen sink gives you bottled-water quality for drinking and cooking.
How often do filters need to be changed?
RO cartridges are typically changed every 6–24 months depending on the stage and your usage. The system's indicator light reminds you.

Yes — standard installation is included on every whole-home system. If your home needs extra plumbing work (like running a new loop), we'll quote it upfront.
How long does installation take?
About half a day for most homes. We clean up and walk you through the system before we leave.

Your system is covered for as long as you own your home. We'll go over full warranty terms with you before you buy.
